Job Description and Requirements

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, voluntary humanitarian aid agency, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world. Mercy Corps has been addressing the humanitarian needs in Jordan through a diverse portfolio of development and relief programs for the past 12 years. Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war almost five years ago, Mercy Corps has worked to address the urgent needs of nearly 4 million people both inside Syria and in neighboring countries

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The HR department is responsible for but not limited to; recruitment, orientation of new staff, personnel management, payroll administration, performance evaluation management, exit procedures for separating staff. The HR Intern is responsible for day-to-day HR requirements, functions and general assistance to the HR Officer.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES"

Intern will remain responsible for all costs associated with:

  • Assist with filling, photo copying and scanning any HR related documents.
  • Maintain, organize and update all staff’s personnel files.
  • Update the leave-tracking sheet for all national staff on monthly basis, ensuring all supporting documents are available.
  • Assist the HR Officer in setting up interviews and dispensing interview schedules for hiring managers.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the HR Officer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

Through the internship, the intern will acquire:

  • Full understanding of best practices in Human resources policies, system and formats
  • By joining Human resources, the intern will learn the basics of HR tasks.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • A fresh graduate / or a candidate with one year of experience in HR or related fields.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization skills are necessary.
  • Highly communication skills and flexibility are highly required
  • Accuracy and attention to details are necessary.
  • Good in English 
  • Good in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
